With more than 101 Phalaenopsis species in our nursery, we work every day with enchanting and colorful Kolibri Orchids. This time, sales employee Matthijs tells you more about working in the orchid nursery and his position.

New challenge Kolibri Company
''Not so long ago I came across the vacancy of Kolibri Company. A friend forwarded this and I got curious. The vacancy appealed to me and I decided to apply. My curiosity was mainly aroused because I already worked at an orchid grower, but was curious about what happens at other nurseries. Not only for that reason, but also for the young team Kolibri drew me. After applying, I was able to get started quickly and started as a sales employee in March 2022.

We work with three salespeople in total and each salesperson has his own tasks. For example, I process orders and prepare quotations. Speaking to and advising our business customers is a daily task and every week I guide these customers on a tour of our nursery. With our wide range, it is nice that we as a seller advise them to make choices."

 

A Kolibri day as a salesperson
''In the horticultural sector we start early in the morning and I start looking at placed orders and processing them. All orders are forwarded to the flowering buffer where our order pickers prepare the plants for packing. I keep the phone with me all day, because customers can call at any time and we must be easily accessible to answer questions. Every day I walk around the nursery to map out the range and to know which varieties are available."

''A Kolibri I like orchids with short branches and lots of flowers! But also the Kolibri Orchids Yemen and Bolzano are favorites!''

Orchid Inspiration Days
''An event that stands out for me is the Orchid Inspiration Days. This annual event takes place for approximately two weeks, where various orchid nurseries open their doors to business customers. As a nursery, we participate in the event and present our latest ideas and ideas here Kolibri Seeing orchids. As sellers, these are fun and busy days where we speak to many business customers."

Growth opportunities
''Kolibri Company offers career opportunities and listens to your ambitions within the company. As a salesperson, I strive to be more responsible to be a point of contact for customers with large orders. I also increasingly stand independently at trade fairs to speak to customers and this makes me more recognizable as a seller. My fellow salespeople have been working for more than ten years Kolibri Company, as a result of which they have already built up permanent customer contact.
