Taking care of an orchid with orchid food

In the shop you can orchid food buy that must be mixed with water. Like many other plants, orchids also like to be spoiled with a drop of orchid food every now and then. For optimal flowering of your orchid, grower Rob advises to use 1 special Chrysal orchid food drop every 2 months. Fill a bucket with water and add 1 drop of orchid food. You can immerse all your orchids in this water. Let the orchid drain well before putting it back in the decorative pot.

Taking care of an orchid with a watering wick

Not so good at keeping track of an orchid's watering? Then the watering wick really something for you! Make sure you buy the right decorative pot when you want to use this watering wick. Never place your orchid in a standard decorative pot with a layer of water, but choose a pot where you can put a layer of water on the bottom without this layer of water touching the roots of the orchids. This can cause the orchid to get root rot and the orchid will die. We recommend using these watering wicks with a orchid bowl with special water reservoir or, for example, the scandi jar.

Repot orchid

Do you want to repot your orchid to a larger pot? Then use our special orchid bark, consisting of bark that meets the specific requirements of the orchid. The orchid grows in nature as an epiphyte on trees. This means that the orchid clings to trees with its roots. This makes it a must for the orchid that it is repotted in an airy substrate. In addition, the bark of the tree ensures that the water can be drained well, so that the orchid does not suffer from its roots.

How do you repot the orchid?

Step 1: Remove the orchid from the plastic pot

Step 2: Cut away the rotten roots (they are black in color)

Step 3: Immerse the orchid in lukewarm water and place it in the new pot

Step 4: Sprinkle the new bark in the pot and gently press the bark
